Skeptoidpodcast is a free public service that talks and reveals myths aboutthe true science. The podcast has been in existence since 2006, andmany people learn great lessons about the true history and the realscience. 5False Arguments for Raw Milk is one of the most regular Skeptoid episodes that relates to mattersof health. I find the episode very interesting since Brain Dunninggave an in-depth analysis of the common myths that people think aboutraw milk and a reality of the same. He gave five common argumentsabout the evils of homogenized and pasteurized milk.
Onlistening to the episode, I realized that Dunning has strongcounterarguments about what people believed and the reality. Forinstance, he argued that homogenization makes milk more healthy.According to him, homogenization is a simple process that makes thefat level consistent during each serving. In other words, the processturns into a suspension, whereby the fat particles are distributedevenly in the liquid. Additionally, Dunning has explained that theopposers of homogenized milk do not base their argument on any realscience (Dunning, 2013). This clarification is useful since itrelieves people who would like to take homogenized milk, but theyfear that it would cause heart diseases. I also find the point ongrass-fed cow fascinating. Many people believe that grass-fed cowsgive safer milk than grain fed cows, but Brian Dunning has adifferent argument. He argues the only difference between milkproduced from grass-fed cows and grain –fed cows is that milk fromgrass-fed cows contains higher amount of conjugated linoleic acid(Dunning, 2013). To get this nutrient, you do not need to consumemilk from cows that are fed from grass since it is sold as asupplement in the health industry. From this episode, I have realizedthat Dunning has strong arguments about raw milk and this has changedmy thinking about it.
