The behavior portrayed by Hinkleyevidenced lack of socialized emotions of guilt or shame. To him, hisattempt was normal. Similarly, the assassination attempt by Hinkleyreflected his complete alienation from the society. The way hissociety handled him, influenced his decision to assassinate thepresident.
