Overthe years the advancement of technology and mass media has changedthe ways of humankind in the society. I think the world has nowwitnessed technological advancements and forms of mass media thathave affected the life of a man both positively and negatively. Ibelieve the internet has been used as the modern way of socializationby humans in the world. Internet platforms such as Google, Facebookamong others have been used to communicate and share ideas by peoplein the world. Ideally, this advancement has been as being good sinceit helps people connect and share important ideas. On the other hand, traditional forms such as the television cannot be left out whilecelebrating this progress in the world. I think reality shows airedon television and the internet has been viewed differently by theusers of these channels. For instance, some individuals have usedreality shows such Big Brother as a way of gaining fame and makingmoney (Rushdie 1).
Moreover, some have viewed these reality shows as eroding the moral values ofthe society. For example, kids and young adults are being exposed toimmoral scenes such as kissing and sex (Rushdie 1). Indeed, thesekinds of scenes infuse characters that affect their moral developmentof the children. I believe progress is necessary for the lives ofpeople, but there is need to consider the moral values of thesociety. I think the Internet is viewed as making us smart andknowledgeable, but morally it is making us stupid day by day.
Inconclusion, I believe there is a need to make use of the socialplatforms and reality shows but not to be used as channels of gainingfame and money and infusing immoral characters to the society.Ultimately, I think the moral character is important than the realityshows that offer information that causes harm to the moral characterof individuals.
