We now live in the age of the camera phone and smartphones that takepictures anytime and everywhere. Kids are learning photography atmuch earlier age now and have perfected the art of using Photoshop asthey continue to grow. Photoshop was once viewed as a verysophisticated photo editing tool and is now software that is used ona daily basis for even those people with no professional experiencein the photography industry. It has led to most people now being ableto edit photos and create even more fake photos than ever before. There are now many fake photos out in the world and are spread usingthe advancement of the digital age, where pictures are now beingshared online continuously across different platforms. This paperwill be discussing how easy it is to make fake photos and how AdobePhotoshop is used in this process by analyzing a video from YouTube.
In the world of photo forensics Adobe Photoshop is one of the besttools to create fake photos or enhance their appearance to make themlook different from the original image. Magazines are now using a lotof photoshopped pictures and faking the way they appear to makemagazines more attractive to consumers. The photo below is a fakepicture and has been enhanced through a process of color filtrationand light shifting techniques to make it look more enhanced and easyon the eye. It has taken much focus on the product than thebackground which has too much light. In this picture the product iswell highlighted and makes the picture appear as a fake. It isevident that they are two pictures that are mashed into one.

The YouTube video explains the different ways one can change an imageusing Content-Aware Fill in Adobe Photoshop CS5. Some of the visiblechanges made to the features of the picture include:
Spot healing brush – which is used to pick out items on the photo. In the video he/she used this feature to delete some of the trees that were visible in the background and that were not needed by the clients.
There was also a leaf that was cut out from the picture that was lying on the ground in the image. I find this fascinating as it shows how smooth and detailed the editing software is when it comes to manipulating images. Small details of the picture that could take long hours editing before can now be done in a matter of seconds.
With the Content-Aware fill feature, another thing that one can do is to remove the lens flare in a photo. Professionals and companies that deal with design avoid having lens flare on their images, so Adobe Photoshop CS5 has developed a new tool that removes the lens flare from any photo. The video shows how easy it is to remove a large object such as a tree from an image with ease as well as how easy it has become for people to fake photos.
The video also demonstrated how to remove shadows that are unwanted on the picture. The Content Aware Fill can fill in background color to the space left by the deleted object in the photo like a shadow or tree.
Replacing unwanted content and building entire foregrounds from different photos put together to form a single panoramic image is also one of the features that the video demonstrated quite well. This is one of the hard aspects when it comes to design, and with the video demonstration, it seems like an easy task. The new Content Aware Fill seems like an excellent way to make those fake photos for commercials and advertisements.
