OwnTime Management Approach
It is essential todevelop effective time management strategies to balance life demandssuch as time for study, ones` family, and leisure. According toSeaward (2013),own time management is vital in allaspects of life, and failure to utilize time well makes one lessproductive and stressed. This essay explores my time managementapproach, issues that influence my time management and strategiesthat I will employ to manage time effectively even under conflictingsituations.
MyApproach to Time Management
One approach of mytime management involves formulating a to-do list. Being a mother, itis challenging to remember all the tasks that I have to perform. Mydiary includes time to attend lessons and time for examinations toenable me to prepare adequately. A to-do list has been invaluable inmy life. I am able to focus on key objectives, and it makes itdifficult to forget deadlines. Listing activities to do provides aclear picture of important and urgent activities (Seaward, 2013).
Prioritizing hasenabled me to achieve most of my dreams and record an impressiveperformance in school. Through prioritization, I am able to focus onall subjects equally without resulting to ones that are easy. Moreover, through prioritizing, I am able to reduce idlecommunication with my friends and utilize the time to develop myskills. Without a clear picture of what to do, I have a naturaltendency of resulting to leisure activities such as watching movies.Allocating enough time to key areas on my life has increased mysatisfaction, as I am able to lead a purposeful life.
I have battled for along time with procrastination, but currently, I am able toconcentrate on many of my key activities. Since I am passionate aboutmy family, in some instance I have to abandon my activities to havefun with my beloved ones. In addition, some subjects that requireextensive learning I usually find myself procrastinating them as Ifeel I have inadequate time. As a result, I decided to tacklechallenging tasks or lessons first in the morning or away from myhouse. Moreover, I have learned to persevere, as things for a motherdo not often work as expected. In case a child falls sick, one tocancel all the plans and attend the emergency. Nevertheless, afteremergencies, I am able to adjust my time and concentrate more onimportant tasks.
Issuesthat Impact on My Time Management
I usually havefrequent visitors who distract most of my priorities. In addition, phone calls, emails, and messages divert my attention while working. At home while doing my work, my young child has numerous questions, which I have to attend. Being a mother is different from boarding inschool. One has to put extra effort in preparing food for the childin the morning among other necessities. As a result, I feel pressuredto manage household chores and schoolwork.
Strategiesthat I Can Implement to Manage My Time Effectively
PuttingOff My Phone and Computer Notifications During Work
Friends’messages, calls or emails and social media such as Facebook greatlydisturb my priorities. I will ensure my phone is on silent mode toenable me to concentrate adequately on my tasks. I will set one hourin the evening to respond to the phone and email messages in order toretain my friends.
SettingLeisure Time to Re-Energize
Dueto commitments that encompass my life, I will set six hours duringthe weekends to refresh my mind. I will engage in my hobbies thatinclude hiking and participating in exercises. In addition, I willcommunicate with friends and share niceties.
Insummary, time management enables one to be productive. My approachinvolves writing ato-do-list and prioritizing. Furthermore, I planto reduce distractions from phones and engage in exercises andleisure activities to prevent being stressed or discouraged.
