Communismand capitalism are economic ideologies that played a significant rolein world politics. It was a popular political ideology in Asia, SouthAmerica, Africa, and Europe. Communism flourished after thepublication of the Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx in 1848. In thispublication, Marx discussed the nature of the human society. In theUSSR, communism came to prominence in 1918 when the Bolsheviks cameinto power. It is, therefore, important to note that the ideology ofcommunism was propagated by the writings of great philosophers likeEngels and Marx whose ideologies greatly transformed communism andmade it be a popular philosophy across the globe.
Capitalism,on the other hand, is a political ideology that became popular in thewest. According to Karl Marx, capitalism, which simply means everyonefor himself, traces its origin to the 16thcentury when it replaced the feudal system. Feudalism createdcapitalism because it gave rise to wealthy merchants who used theirresources to create more wealth for themselves at the expense of thepoor. Capitalism has become more successful than communism because itis currently ruling the world. The first reason for the success ofcapitalism is because it encouraged hard work. The fact thatindividual success would be determined by one’s determination mademany people admire capitalism. To fit into the society, everyone hadto seek education, job, and business opportunities. Besides, capitalism appealed to people because it advocated for autonomy.Capitalism differs from communism because it gives everyone an equalopportunity to exploit their potential and benefit from it. Thisjustifies why countries like the USA have prospered. Americans aremotivated to work hard and compete with the rest of the society.
Itis true that modern day philosophers are shifting from religionslowly. This is because the focus is now turning to the physicalsciences which seek to analyze humanity, environment, andbiodiversity through the use of reason and critique. However, in myopinion, I do not believe that man should only be studiedscientifically. I hold the view that human beings are motivated by acombination of spiritual and biological forces. In as much asevolutionary theories justify the scientific origin of humanity itdoes not adequately explain the very origin of life. Even if humanbeings originated from non-living creatures, such creatures must havean origin. So, spirituality should be used to shed light on suchmetaphysical concepts that cannot be adequately explained by man. This means that human nature is a complex concept which involvesscience and some form of spiritual belief.
