Explanationfor My Career Goals and Advanced Degree in Nursing
Nursing career isamong the most reputable jobs as it ensures the wellbeing of acountry. It prevents deaths, provides guidance to healthy living andadvice to individuals inflicted with various diseases. This paperdiscusses my career goals, reasons for specializing as a Family NursePractitioner (FNP) and factors the facilitated me to undertake anadvanced degree in nursing.
Iaim to prevent frequent occurrence of diseases such as heart attack, type 2 diabetes, diarrhea, cancers and respiratory infection as myfirst goal. These diseases are deadly and can be best managed atfamily level by advising people concerning healthy diets. Due tolimited awareness, individuals living in congested areas tend toregister the highest death toll. Prevention is invaluable compared totreatment. My second goal is to reduce medical expenses and thenumbers of times individuals’ visit medical centers in a community.Medical expenditures consume considerably a large of portion ofincome that can be used to enhance individuals’ lives andsupporting the country’s economy. Despite the availability ofmedical covers, people spend money while traveling to hospitals andbuying of special diets such increased consumption of fruits. Mythird goal involves designing a comprehensive treatment plan for theelderly and young children. The majority of individuals administeredin hospitals are the elderly and children due to the application ofineffective treatment measures. I aim to design a follow-up programonline as well as visitation of the elderly to assess theirconditions and provide the necessary guidance.
Reasons for Specializing as a Family Nurse Practitioner
Igrew up in a community where healthcare services were difficult toaccess. Only the affluent were able to hire the services of FNPs. Inremember one occasion where my best friend suffered frequent heartattacks. It took almost three hours to reach the nearest publichospital, which was always congested. When his condition exacerbated,he had to remain at home while the parents tried in vain to accessthe services of a FNP. Unfortunately, James succumbed to heart attackafter two weeks. The incident grieved my heart and resolved to pursuenursing in the line of a FNP to be to prescribe therapies andmedication, conduct routine check-ups and diagnose illnesses.Furthermore, acting as a FNP will equip me with knowledge to aid inminor surgical procedures and coordinate with health professionals intreating and preventing diseases.
Reasons Pursuing Advanced Degree
Advanced degree in nursing will enable me to conduct numerous typesof research for improving the community. Advanced nurses areprivileged to engage in governmental research and approverecommendations from the Registered Nurses (RNs) (Barker, 2015). Itwill grant me an opportunity to investigate diseases the affectindividuals in regard to geographical areas, demographics, and theminority groups. Acquiring an advanced degree will provide an ampletime to investigate follow-up measures that can be incorporated innursing. Lifespan can be extended if diseases are combatedeffectively with frequent monitoring (Hamric, Hanson & O`Grady,2013). In the current era, many diseases have become resistance.People consume products such as meat, eggs, meals that are laced withartificial growth hormones, leading to antibiotics resistances.Follow-up is essential to help nurses change medication drugs. Anadvanced degree will equip me with knowledge of applying experienceto determine the cause of diseases in complex situations. I will ableto link the causal factors of a disease offer an effective treatment.
