Lifein school can be monotonous at times due to the routine occurrence ofevents. Theprimary objective of this essay is to elaborate on the activitiesthat I do for pleasure apart from those that are normally required ofme.In school, I have chosen some of the most demanding courses in termsof time and understanding. The compression emanating from pursuingthese courses have motivated me to work extra hard in school.However, besides learning, I have engaged in other activities whichare vital in relieving stress. One of my favorite past timeactivities is playing basketball. Every game comes with a newchallenge, that of winning. Together with my teammates, we alwayswork to ensure that victory does not elude us. Basketball gives methe opportunity to bond with my friends following a long day oflearning. Besides playing basketball, I also participate in the MathLeague through which I have been able to gain knowledge which hasapplicability in solving real life problems. In conclusion, these twoactivities provide me with a sigh of relief apart from the dailycompulsory activities, hence I regard them as some of the pleasurableactivities that I like the most.
Mydream has always been to enroll for an Engineering course at MIT. Themain aim of this essay is to outline my preferred department as theCollege of Engineering and to substantiate the reasons for wanting topursue an Engineering course.Since I was a child, I have always had a dream of one day becoming anengineer. I not only used to play with toys, but I was fascinated byhow they functioned. A further motivating factor occurred when NASAsucceeded in dispatching rockets to space so as to further explorethe world. I was fascinated by the great lengths that engineers canstretch their capabilities and positively impact the world. Besidespursuing the subjects that will necessitate entry into the college, Ialso value the concept of problem solving which is vital for everydayliving. I would like to make a mark in history through being part ofa team that would develop a novel cutting edge technology into theworld. Furthermore, I would like to see a world sustainability is akey to development, and through the skills that I would acquirepursuing an engineering course, I believe that I would make apositive impact in the world. In conclusion, I strongly believe thatengineering has the potential of changing lives through offeringalternative approaches of performing daily activities. Hence, I willbe glad to pursue this path.
