Indeed,teenage is a phase in life that is mingled with much confusion, giventhat it is a major transition stage when a young person transformsinto an adult. A young person is predisposed to several thoughts onhow to attain independence, trying to loosen from the grasp of theirparentage. However, they are imbued with the fear of takingresponsibility for one ‘self. Therefore, I opine that it is onlyreasonable that a young person will find guidance from their parents. On the other hand, the teenager should be allowed to have theirpersonal exploits to determine their course of life.
Anidentity crisis is a problem in the transitional phase. Many youthssuffer from issues of identification upon missing the point betweenrealizing self-independence and seeking direction from their parents.It is apt that teenagers should be subject to a rigorous process,allowing them to involve in activities of their choices that willhelp them develop their attitude towards life and who they intend tobecome. Nevertheless, the process also entails the inclusion ofparents in providing necessary guidance towards the transition of ayoung person. The youth should be permitted to figure out who theywant to be. They should be tolerated within the ambits of theiradventures, with parents only performing the oversight role. Theprovidence of a parent is critical in the life of a young person, andit is in this phase that they should be strongly involved, expressingunderstanding and insight into the issues of their teenagers (Bonielet al., 2015). It is a common presumption that this is a stage thatparents have already endured and therefore, are prepared to supporttheir children through.
Inconclusion, the support that parents award their teenagers should beall inclusive, letting the teenagers waddle through their experiencesbut with certainty that they are set for self-actualization. In anycase, I must indicate that the reason for self-realization is tolearn to coexist with others in the society, presenting one ‘selfas worthy and capable of self-independence.
