There exist several types of Hispanic patients. To understand themental health and needs of different patients suffering fromdepressive disorders, it’s necessary to first look at their sharedand unique characteristics and experiences of the different groups ofHispanic patients (Kantor, 2007). There exists little researchregarding the examination of mental status of older Hispanic adults. The physical health associated with Hispanic adults is despair. Thereis also a close relationship between the chronic health conditionsand disability with depression symptoms in a patient (Harrigan,Harrigan& American psychiatric Association, 2015). Disordersresult to distress as they interfere with the working of the normalday to day activities. From the medications of the disease, patientsmay recover and continue with their daily routine. From the variousmedications of the disorder there exists both the expectations of thetreatment and the real outcome of the same.
PMHNP are advanced practice registered nurses. These are specialistwho have completed training and have work experience in the field. They have experience in handling individuals with mental healthissues(Kantor, 2007). They are involved in primary care setting. Theytake part in assessment and diagnosis of the mental health. Theyalso develop and execute treatments to the patients. Throughadministering of Zoloft as antidepressant drug the patients areexpected to heal from depressive disorders. From the threetreatments, administering of Zoloft daily served as the best as ithad little effect when used with any other type of medication. Itserved as a neutral medication. This treatment for depression comeswith its side effects(Kantor, 2007). There was an expectation thatthe drug will aid the patient to overcome the illness. However, therewas a different turn of events. After daily dose of the drug, thepatient experienced dizziness, nausea, and insomnia and appetiteloss.Theses side effects in turn led to worsening of the situationand making the patient more depressed. . The reason behind the choiceof this method of medication was based on the fact that the majorityof the drugs used stimulate enzymes in the body, thereby limitingdepression disorders. Ethical issue in this type of medication isensuring that the drugs prescribed are approved for selling over thecounter or for prescription. There should also exist correctprescription of the drug.
For one to come up with the solution to some of the Hispanicdisorders its necessary to look at the causes of the same. To addressdepressive disorders there is need to look at some issues (Harrigan,Harrigan& American psychiatric Association, 2015). These issuesinclude history of the present illness and the current symptoms. Itis from addressing this issues that an amicable solution arises. Oneof the methods used to address an elderly man suffering fromdepressive disorders was the considerations of pharmacodynamics. Thisinvolves the study of biological and physiologic effects associatedwith a drug (Harrigan, Harrigan& American psychiatricAssociation, 2015). These are effects that are inbuilt within thehumans. Through this method there was the study of how the drugaffected the elderly man. This method enabled the inhibition ofnormal biological processes of the depressed man. The drug assistedin inhibiting the release of hormones that lead to depression. Thedesired outcome was for the drugs to act as a stimulant. Throughtargeting some of the internal structures of the patients thereexists positive results of the drugs. There existed a differencebetween the outcomes expected from this type of medication. Theresponse of the patient towards the drug was not as expected. Different body constitutions accounted for this difference since thedesired outcome of the drug is dependent on enzymes, chemicalreactions, proteins and many more
Pharmacokinetics on the other hand is the study of how the patientsaffect the drug. All the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamicsdetails of the elderly patient were put into consideration for thechoice of the medication above. Through the use of theantidepressants I was able to administer treatment to the patient. The main reason for using these drugs is to assist in improving theusage of chemical controlling moods by the brain. There wereexpectations that this method would assist the brain to control thechemicals and hormones in the body. This formed one of the mostguaranteed method of medication as it’s even given much weight bythe patient as compared to other drugs.
There existed difficulties with the use of this method. There wasexpectation that this type of antidepressant drug would assist inaiding the Hispania elder patient. This was proved wrong as it had norelieving effect to the patient. In fact, itarouse the feeling. Therewas need to try on several types of dosage for the same drug. Thiscost me time and the confidence of the patient on the drugs. Therewas also the issue of the use of the drugs only when need be. I hadearlier on expected that the drugs would only be used once or forsome time and the disorder would be solved. This affects the patientas they interfere with the dosage. One of the huge difficulties wasto select the type of dosage and the issue of correlating between thedrug and other food substances that would best suit the Hispaniapatient. Due to their generic differences and composition selecting amedicine that works best for them posed the biggest challenge.
The outcome was not that impressive as the patients also had toconstantly use the drug whenever they had depression. It did notsolve the problem of treating the illness once and for all.Depressive disorders need complete diagnosis that involves asystematic study of some critical issues. These issues include thehistory of the patient together with the past and current symptoms(Kantor, 2007). The past duration and types of dosage is also afactor that I put into consideration while administering the types ofmedication mentioned above. Most of the treatments of depressivedisorders are not known as the causes of the same change with time. There exists no distinct medication to depressive disorders. Throughtrial and error method, the best medication that suites a patient isidentified. Most of the medications of these disorders are dependenton the generic composition of the patients. People of the sameancestor are found to share the same type of medication where therearise cases of depressive disorders (Maj& Sartorius, 2002). Moreof research needs to be identified to cater for the rise ofmedications that don’t fully meet the requirements of the law. Someof the medicines have been found to have an adverse side effect tothe patients. Moreover, others have been found to worsen the issue, leading to suicidal attempts by the patients.
