Astudy was conducted in 2012 to assess the percentage of Australianand New Zealand customers shopping on overseas and local websites. Itwas noted that in both countries, most customers shop on bothoverseas and local websites 65%- Australia, and New Zealand-50%.However, very few customers shop on overseas websites as compared tolocal websites in Australia, 25% shop on Local websites while only10% shop on overseas websites also, in New Zealand, 43% of customersshop on local websites as compared to a 7% that shop on overseaswebsites.
Inboth countries, it was reported that online shopping is cheaper thanshopping in stores Australia-55%, and New Zealand-51%. Although,some facts proved that online shopping is still no match to shoppingin the store. According to the research, online shopping in bothcountries has been reported by customers to be less convenient ascompared to shopping in stores. This is evident from the lowpercentages of customers that support in both countries that supportonline shopping Australia-28%, and New Zealand-11%. Additionally,shopping in stores provides customers with a better range of productas compared to shopping on websites.
Despitethe fact that both Australian and New Zealand customers shop more inlocal websites as compared to overseas websites, in New Zealand, morepeople prefer local websites to overseas websites than in AustraliaAustralia-25%, and New Zealand-43%. On the other hand, in comparisonto New Zealand, more customers in Australia prefer shopping usingoverseas websites Australia-10%, and New Zealand-7%. Finally, morecustomers in New Zealand than in Australia report that onlineshopping is much convenient than shopping in stores Australia-28%,and New Zealand-11%.
