Clientdescription
Maureen(pseudonym) was referred by a former client. She is single and justcompleted her High school education Maureen wants to join theuniversity. My client was born and raised in Arizona and selfidentifies as an above average student in class. She claims to have apassion in advertisements and would therefore want to manage anadvertisement agency. The client in is in the AES SDS code and wouldhave to attain a college degree to achieve her career. According tothe client, her parents are middle class and would afford to sponsorher college education.
Amongstother ethics rules, I would use in assisting the client, I will useNCDA’s code of ethics, code A. 1 that emphasizes on the Welfare ofthe clients served by professionals (NCDA, 2015). By ensuring thewelfare of the client, I will work jointly with the client to devisean integrated counseling plan that would offer the client a promiseof reasonable success. This way I would ensure that the client and Ido an evaluation of the available options of the Universities thatshe is eligible to. That would include evaluating the client’sperformance in her main exams and the requirements of the University. Also, in advising the client I will consider the proximity of theschool from the client’s home and the financial obligation that theschool would impact on her parents. After evaluation I will advisethe client to apply to the top three options and report to my officein three weeks to see which university had accepted her. Hoping theclient is admitted to a university, I would instruct the client toensure we meet for lunch after every semester as follow up and todiscuss how close she is getting to her career.
