Expansionof the business across the borders seemed to be beneficial but posedas a challenge at the same time. The major challenge resulted fromthe difficulty in the centralization of some of the businessoperations. The problem created a need to develop an IT solution thatwould ensure that the operations are run in a smooth mannerthroughout the organization. It, therefore, resulted in the use ofthe enterprise resource planning software, which is efficient in theintegration and running of the individual units of the organization.The key importance of the system lies in its ability to incorporatedifferent organizational processes such as the production processes,logistics, financial matters, administration and managerial tasks,and marketing (Pasaoglu, 2011). By itself, the implementation of thesystem into the day-to-day work of the organization proved to beuseful especially in the centralization of duties even with theexpansion of the organization’s operations. As put by Zouine &Fenies (2015), the enterprise resource planning system is useful inany company as it aids in the elimination of ineptitudes,identification of wastes, enhances collaboration within the company,and facilitates the improvement of customer relations.
TheZachman framework is an important rational structure that wasdeveloped with an intention of providing an elaborate exemplificationof an information technology initiative. The framework has importanttools that are applicable in any organization where IT is applied. Itoffers a definition of the existing relationships in perspectivesdepending on certain abstraction rules. By using the structure, theorganization can state the goals that it needs to achieve with theapplication of the IT solution. The framework is, therefore,important in displaying the aim of the chosen software to aid insolving the stated problem faced in the organization. The frameworkis also important in the statement of the processes, roles, andmaterials that the organization needs in the implementation andproper working of the IT solution to ensure that the problem issolved and that the organization functions in an appropriate manner(Menchaca, 2013). Zachman framework, therefore, provides a propermodel of the integration of Information Technology with a propersupport of strategic planning that ensures efficiency in the businessoperations.
Basingon the Zachman framework for enterprise architecture it is easy tonote that all the processes were properly considered in ensuring thatthe identified IT solution is easily integrated into the company’soperational architecture. The IT individuals in the organization arealso able to work efficiently with the software to ensure that itmeets its purpose and that it leads to the solving of issues thathave been experienced with the expansion of the organization. TheZachman framework also calls for the consideration of theaffordability of the proposed solution. The implementation process ofthe enterprise resource planning software is financially affordableand its security is achievable. The organization’s executives canhave full control of the software to ensure that its management issecure and that its operations are monitored closely to make surethat it achieves its purpose.
Theintegration of the components from Zachman framework can have somechallenges, especially during the initiation stages. Some of thechallenges include the implementation of the software tools into thefunctioning of the organization, but such can easily be overcome overtime as the workers learn how to use the components such as those ofsystem logics, tool components, and technology physics. With a properunderstanding of the components and after getting used to them, theorganization will benefit greatly from the integration, as thecomponents of the framework will ensure that the generated ITsolution functions in the right manner to meet its purpose.
Fora successful implementation of the IT solution, different parties arerequired to oversee the proper functioning of the solution. One ofthe major stakeholders is the organization’s executives. These arethe people who have an essential role in the development of policiesthat govern the operations of the organization. They are, therefore,responsible for ensuring that the use of the enterprise resourceplanning software is implemented and that there are proper guidelineson how such should be carried out. The members of the executive arethe main individuals who efficient operations of the company anddecision-making processes. They make sure that proper plans are laidto ensure that the IT solution solves the company’s problems. Theother stakeholders are the IT personnel within the organization.These are the people who will ensure that the system softwarefunctions well and that it accomplishes its goal. They are theemployees in the company who have the proper IT skills to maintainthe system and to correct any challenges that may be faced during itsoperation. The other group is that of the investors whose roleinclude ensuring that the company’s executives work effectively inensuring that the IT solution works in the best manner in making surethat the company meets its goals and that proper profits aregenerated.
