Iwas brought up in a small Chinese city along with my three brothers. My parents were very principled, even though they only graduated frommiddle school, they were dedicated to seeing all their children exceland attain the highest levels of education. Presently, I am anundergraduate student majoring in Child Development. Discipline wasmandatory in our household and punishment was inevitable for anyoneinvolved in mischief. I consider myself to be a person with diverseinterests and possesses numerous skills which had the possibility ofdirecting me to any career path. However, through my experiences inlife, I have always gained personal satisfaction in working withchildren, therefore, being a teacher would give me the chance toexplore my skills in this profession.
Myinterest was sparked by my parents whom as a child, they always gaveus story books and other pictorial teaching aids to use amongstourselves including other children from the neighborhood. Each childwas given the opportunity to guide the rest during the learningprocess in the assumption of being the teacher. This was my initialmotivation however, I seriously considered the prospect ofcommitting my future to the field of teaching when the time came forjoining campus. I had to weigh all my interests and surprisingly, Icould not resist the temptation to pursue my ambitions to be ateacher.
AsI continued my education, I choose to major in Child Development eventhough there were other numerous available options. Many problemscurrently face the society therefore, one of my long-term objectivesis to acquire the knowledge and power to make an impact on theeducation of children. As a teacher, I would be able to advocate forthe improved welfare of children, and it would also give me theopportunity to lead from the front. I believe in a strong work ethicas the necessary qualities for the attainment of my goals. I considermyself to be in possession of these attributes hence, I will be ableto work for the betterment of the education of our children.
Childrenrepresent one of the isolated social groups that I believe requiresfurther representation. I am zealous about the treatment of ourchildren, and I notice that as demographics drifts toward youngpeople, existing problems in the exploitation of children will onlybe intensified in the future. Hence, I hope to contribute to thedevelopment and protection of our children. It is vital to ensurethat children have the necessary tools that will enable them toattain their fullest capabilities.
Thepossession of excellent interpersonal skills has always been one ofmy top strengths. Interacting with different kinds of people hasalways been my greatest joy. Furthermore, I believe I have thecapability to express my perspective while communicating. I haveundergone numerous volunteer experiences for the commencement ofChild Development class. As a result, I was able to discover some ofmy strengths and weaknesses. I spent time at a local middle schoolwith the primary objective of determining whether working withchildren would be most appropriate for me. This provided me with anexcellent avenue for assessing the dynamics of educating children. The experience turned out to be the most rewarding as I felt that Ihad the power to impact positively on a child’s life. I discoveredthat I had the capability to adapt to new environments and easilyrelate to people with divergent views. These were additionalstrengths to my personality as I was previously aware of my abilitiesto motivate and initiate time-sensitive conversations. Afterreviewing my performance during the volunteer program, I showed thatworking with children was an aptitude glued to me.
Finally,I look forward to a satisfying career where I will be able to convertmy objectives into reality. I will dedicate all my strengths inensuring children develop in a holistic manner. I believe mycompetency as a teacher would be justified by the interpersonalskills and strengths I have demonstrated in my initial encounterswith children.
