ADescription on the Theme: Why People Wear Masks?
Differentindividuals put on masks for either good or bad reasons. One of thereasons why people wear masks is to hide their true selves or theurge to keep our most vulnerable place a secret. Consequently, it isbelieved that people wear masks so that they can go through thingsthat they are not familiar with in this world. It is as a result ofthis understanding that I chose to create a new visual work inspiredby this theme on what makes people wear masks. This paper will seekto describe the topic on what makes people put on masks.
Themask can be viewed as an element of communication or language thatportrays the emotion of the image that an individual chooses tocreate (McGill, 2016). For instance, in a situation whereby one seesan individual putting on a mask expressing happiness, it may tend toinfer to various meanings. It may in some way depict the maskwearer’s genuine happiness to other persons that might make themlaugh, or it may be used to hide the real emotions of the mask wearersuch as unhappiness. Therefore, this implies that masks can be usedin hiding our true identity to other people, being secretive or as away of going through some strange occurrences in our daily lives.
Thetruth of the matter is, we all wear masks. We are one person at home, and another person at school and yet another person when we are inour community and around friends. With all the masks we wear daily,we stand a chance of losing sight of who we are (McGill, 2016).People are constantly hiding behind the mask of technology byprotecting ourselves and even sometimes enticing and impressingothers. This is by posting illusion photos to social media that hidesour real emotions, and as a result, we run away from the realities ofthe world.
Ourtrue identity is in most instances hidden behind the masks that weput on. Masks entail complete social outlines. Some individuals areable to understand the meaning of a mask by just looking at it, andthey have the needed knowledge in figuring out what mask to wearthemselves (McGill, 2016). For instance formal ball mask enhancesdance activities with your partner while your identity is safelyhidden beneath the mask. Therefore, it is clear that the masksprotect an individual and expedites interactions with one another.Through the act of putting on masks in different situations, itfacilitates us in becoming the person we want to be at that place, hence protecting us from exposing our vulnerable places.
Tosum it up, it is now evidence that putting on masks is not a newthing and that we wear them to shield our vulnerable inner realidentities. Additionally, we need to blend in with the society, andthis is achieved by wearing masks that project social conformance.Nonetheless, masks lies, protects our inner selves, even if it has agood purpose in protection and acceptance. They are largely used asan essential coping mechanism methods that assist us in handling thedifficulties of social life as well as the unknown things in thisworld.
